10 Most Underrated TV Shows Of The Last 10 Years

1. Justified

In a television landscape of prestige dramas, Justified felt refreshingly old-school. Sent back home to Eastern Kentucky for controversially shooting dead a Miami mob boss, US Marshall Raylan Givens tackles both his past and the various criminal elements, which are being drawn to Harlan County.

It's a modern Western, with Givens as an old-fashioned lawman with a strong moral sense of right and wrong. Based on a short story by Elmore Leonard, it's peppered with the whip-crack dialogue that you'd come to expect from the man who brought us Get Shorty and Jackie Brown.

A decade before it was dramatised in this year's Dopesick, Justified also tackled the devastating effects of Oxycontin on the former mining communities of Kentucky. Whilst it doesn't have the incisive social commentary of something like The Wire, it still makes good use of the subject to comment on the social decay brought about by the loss of industry.

Justified never got the praise or exposure of the likes of Breaking Bad (which was airing around the same time) and is a bit of a cult hit. All six seasons are available on Amazon Prime and it's best enjoyed with a smooth Kentucky bourbon.
