10. Jewel Staite
--> -->
Every fanboy's dream girl, Jewel Staite is well known for her starring role in Joss Whedon's short-lived, but wildly entertaining, space western Firefly. She went on to become a staple in another sci-fi series, Stargate Atlantis and had many guest spots in other shows such as Supernatural and Warehouse 19. It's no wonder the nerds love her but before she became the Leia of their dreams she appeared in two episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark. In "The Tale of Watcher's Woods," Jewel played a bad girl who gets stuck at summer camp. Her character comes complete with a habit for smoking despite being only eleven at the time and appearing in a show marketed towards children. Talk about scary. Exactly one year later she made another appearance in a more flattering role as an aspiring painter. In "the Tale of the Unfinished Painting" an evil art teacher lures young artists into working on unfinished paintings using enchanted brushes that trap them in the work. If you're a Jewel fan these are two episodes you should definitely check out. Though the acting may seem rather, well, childish, at first when you compare the two, in which she plays two very different girls, you can see how her acting really shines. Jewel recently appeared in five episodes of AMC's The Killing but no future projects have been announced.
