9. Melissa Joan Hart
-->--> Before she was a teenage witch with a knack for trouble, Melissa Joan Hart played on Nickelodeon's Clarissa Explains it All. Though the series didn't project her to fame it was a decent start and Nickelodeon did their best by casting her in an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark in 1993. What makes Melissa's appearance on the show so interesting is that the character she plays is cold and somewhat of a bully. Melissa hasn't touched a role like this since so it's quite fascinating to see her display her acting chops at such a young age. The story is "The Tale of the Frozen Ghost" in which Melissa plays the babysitter to a young boy sent to stay with his elderly aunts. Her role is akin more to a nanny - why such a young girl would have such a position is beyond us - as she travels and lodges with him as well. The culprit behind the episode is the ghost of a young boy who froze to death, and Melissa's character has no qualms about teasing the protagonist for his belief, and fear, of ghosts. Funny how her character is naturally so cold in an episode tied to this theme, but perhaps it's just that we perceive her as a tad more cruel than she actually is as we're used to seeing her in friendlier roles. Melissa is currently starring in Melissa & Joey alongside the eldest of the Lawrence brothers - Joseph.
