10 Must-See Previous Roles From New Twin Peaks Residents

3. Jay R. Ferguson – Stan Rizzo, Mad Men

Stan Rizzo
AMC

An inherently likeable good guy in the vein of Chris Pratt, Jay R. Ferguson’s Stan has a definite ‘cool older brother’ vibe, so expect to see him as a counterpoint to Knepper, Sizemore and the not-listed-here James Belushi, the industry legends surrounding whom lead us to believe that Lynch sees him as a villain. Then again, stranger things have happened in Lynch’s work – we might even see him reprise his According To Jim sitcom role…

Ferguson has found himself in similar territory before. His Stan was a sweet, stoner contrast to the hard-drinking chauvinists who populated the oppressively patriarchal SCDP ad agency.

Twin Peaks, even in its darker Lynch-helmed episodes, was unashamedly romantic, which might also suit Ferguson's style; his beautiful final scene with Elizabeth Moss' Peggy might have seemed too out of place in the show's love-as-commodity world, were it not for his affecting performance and the audience goodwill towards the character.
