9. Turn Up Charlie
You can be forgiven for forgetting Idris Elba's comedy-drama Turn Up Charlie existed at all, since it came and went with a whimper before slipping into obscurity.
The story of a struggling DJ who agrees to nanny for his famous best friend, the fun dramedy features Elba firing on all cylinders, whilst the writing around him fails to match his effortlessly cool star power.
Cancelled after its first season, the show was cut loose with a statement from Netflix reading:
Turn Up Charlie will not return for a second season. We're especially grateful to star and executive producer Idris Elba, who turned his passion for DJing into a witty, heart-warming comedy series... We look forward to continuing our relationship with Idris on future projects.
Though the statement gave no reason behind the cancellation, the show had received pretty poor reviews for its derivative story and writing during its short-lived run, so it's a safe bet that's what caused things to go wrong.
