The reign of Heisenberg as New Mexico's most infamous drug kingpin might have ended seven years ago now, but Breaking Bad still remains one of the best shows for binging in the Netflix library.

The story of Walter White and his transformation from soft-spoken chemistry teacher to cold-blooded killer, Breaking Bad is a psudo-Western crime drama revolving around the illegal trading of crystallized methamphetamine and is built up from its collection of colourful characters.

From the maniacal figures of Tuco Salamanca and Gus Fring to the undeniably quirky Saul Goodman, the show has brought about some of the most interesting and complex arcs in television history, making the show even more watchable. Throw in a couple of exploding wheelchairs, swimming pool standoffs and Hank's intense mineral collection and all that is left is one of the most breathtaking shows ever created.

After its acquisition by Netflix in 2011 Breaking Bad experienced a true surge in popularity, entering the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's most critically acclaimed television series. Breaking Bad's immense popularity around the world has since led to a six-season prequel, Better Call Saul, and a 2019 film sequel starring Aaron Paul, El Camino.
