Out of all the major network hits of 2013, Sleepy Hollow is the most surprising and without a doubt the most fun. You've got a loose interpretation of the Ichabod Crane character, who has been resurrected in the present day after lying dead in a cave since the Revolutionary War. He must team up with a local police officer, Abbie Mills, to save the world from the oncoming apocalypse (of which the legendary Headless Horsemen is one of the harbingers). It's alternatively horrifying and endearing, as Crane and Mills fight against nightmare monsters, all while poor Ichabod comes to terms with this brave new world he lives in (his rant about the sales tax on donuts is a particular highlight). A lot of the credit for Sleepy Hollow's success has to go to Tom Mison, who is somehow able to imbue Ichabod's occasionally cumbersome dialogue with believability and a sense of charm. This show would go down in flames with a lesser actor in the role of Ichabod Crane. Nicole Beharie is a more than worthy leading lady, and their growing camaraderie is a joy to watch develop on screen. Status: Renewed
