10 New & Returning TV Shows You Need To Watch In September

4. Scream Queens S1

Ryan Murphy has been creating hit TV shows for over 15 years now, beginning in 1999 with Popular, and then really breaking through with Nip/Tuck in 2003. Then, of course, came the (at the time) pop-cultural phenomenon Glee, and since then Murphy has busied himself with a string of antholgy projects. It started with American Horror Story, and will continue with American Crime Story in 2016, but next month sees the premiere of Scream Queens. The horror-comedy anthology will be centred around a string of murders that occur at a college campus, with the first season involving the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority. It's familiar territory, and even this year we've had the similarly titled Scream doing its take on the genre, of course based on the film series that really made it popular, but Murphy should be able to put a fun and interesting twist on things. Emma Roberts will star as the sorority leader, with Lea Michele one of the new pledges, while Abigail Breslin and Jamie Lee Curtis are also on-board, and the Queens will start to Scream on September 22.
