10 New TV Shows That Are Already Doomed
6. Beef
Netflix's Beef is one of the year's most exciting and unforgettable shows so far - a perfectly pitched black comedy elevated by incredible production values and superb performances from Steven Yeun and Ali Wong.
Its first season went down a storm with critics and general viewers alike, so why exactly is it doomed, you might ask?
Because nothing can ever just be one thing, creator Lee Sung Jin confirmed that while Beef was originally written as a standalone series, he was hopeful to continue the story in a second season if Netflix were receptive.
And considering the show's strong viewing figures, it feels like it's just a matter of time before Netflix confirms that the show will be back for more.
Except, didn't Danny and Amy's story feel so brilliantly closed-off by the end? Sometimes less is more, and as excellent as the first batch of episodes were, it doesn't really feel like there's any story left to tell.
Turning Beef into an anthology series focused on a different spat each season with a new cast would absolutely work, but going by Jin's recent comments, he's far more interested in continuing the original narrative, which is decidedly less interesting.
