10 New TV Shows That Are Already Doomed
4. White House Plumbers
On paper, White House Plumbers had so much damn potential - a satirical political miniseries centered around the masterminds behind the Watergate scandal, played by Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux.
With the show also being written and directed by some of the creatives behind Veep, the prospect of this being a major awards hit for HBO spoke for itself - that is, until anybody actually watched it.
Despite the game performances and extremely distinguished ensemble cast - also including Domhnall Gleeson, Kiernan Shipka, and Lena Headey - White House Plumbers opts for a disappointingly broad treatment of its stranger-than-fiction story.
The wit and sophistication of Veep is sadly largely absent here, ensuring what appeared to be one of the year's big prestige projects released to mixed reviews and has barely registered a pulse with audiences on social media or elsewhere.
While the five-part series was never going to be a multi-season outing for HBO, they nevertheless expected it'd score them a few easy Emmys, right? Yikes.
