10 Most Oblivious TV Law Enforcers

9. Sgt. Harrison Yates €“ South Park

The mountain town of South Park used to be patrolled by Officer Barbrady €“ the epitome of terrible policing €“ but more recently this has changed. Now when the situation calls for help from law enforcement you're more likely to see Sgt. Harrison Yates spring into action. As the highest-ranked detective in the Park County Police Force, he is often called upon to solve a variety of surreal crimes. While he's clearly passionate about his work, as is evidenced in his interactions with his wife, he's immensely gullible and believes in the paranormal. This leads him into trivial investigations while he is more than happy to let others like the Hardly Boys or Mysterion solve more important crimes for him. When you get down to it though, as is the case with all grownups in the South Park universe, he's ignorant to the majority of what's happening around him. His investigative methods are certainly questionable: dressing as a prostitute and performing depraved acts to catch men soliciting sex, not acting on Ike and his teacher's relationship ('...nice') and spending hours in the lab figuring out let from right. It's all hilarious stuff and continues the grand tradition of mocking the police.
