10 Most Oblivious TV Law Enforcers

8. Futurama €“ URL & Smitty

Living in the future doesn't mean you're going to get a better class of police officer. In fact, if you consider Futurama's URL and Smitty, it's quite the contrary. They're good friends who enjoy giving out excessive beatings and abusing authority. While they do get results on occasion, most of the time it's luck that hands them their culprits. It's a case of the two of them being oblivious to the bigger picture, being overly focused on their standing in the community as enforcers of the law while believing themselves to be infallible. The most frequently seen members of the New New York Police Department, they are certainly an odd couple. URL is a robotic peace officer with a voice like a 70's soul brother who was presumably built to fight crime while Smitty became a cop because his father owned a restaurant where people wouldn't pay for their meals. With limited backstories to draw conclusions from it's the actions which speak for the characters, and luckily there's plenty to go from there. They aren't in the show constantly but when they are they always make an impression and when they're not wrongfully accusing people of crimes, they're usually arresting Bender for some sort of theft. They're never able to hold him for long of course but they are generally able to get a few solid hits in with their lightsaber-batons before he escapes.
