Conjoined Fetus Lady (Season 2, Episode 5)

Nurse Gollum was one of the most visually striking characters of the early seasons. Even bright pink hair couldn’t distract from the dead foetus conjoined to the left side of her head.

After Sheila Broflovski hears the Boys discussing their shared disgust at the nurse’s condition, she reprimands them and attempts to educate them about Conjoined Twin Myslexia. Her crusade leads to the town of South Park holding a “Conjoined Twin Myslexia Awareness Week”, despite Nurse Gollum’s discomfort and polite protests that she’s “a pretty happy person”.

Among the embarrassments she endures are being the only “brave soul” in the week’s opening parade, and official celebration hats that mimic her condition.

Nurse Gollum uses the week’s concluding speech to empower herself. She berates the town that the last thing she wanted was to be singled out, let alone have a weeklong focus on her handicap. She concludes: “I just want to be ridiculed, shouted at, and made fun of, like all the rest of you do to each other”. Shared humour is a potent form of inclusion.
