10 Once Great TV Shows That Became Laughing Stocks
5. Fear The Walking Dead
You wanna hear a hot take? Okay, here it goes: Season 3 of Fear The Walking Dead was the best season in the whole Walking Dead universe.
You might agree, you might scoff; but the truth is that the AMC prequel series that only ever showed glimmers of greatness in its first two seasons absolutely knocked it out of the park in its third - achieving all of the greatness that its tired old predecessor once had. And you know what? Scott Gimple came on-board and squandered every last drop of that greatness.
In a complete show of disrespect, the new 'creative' direction of Season 4 jumped the series forward years into the future, rendering all the promising storylines of the previous season irrelevant. Moreover, the show's two protagonists - and its two most engaging characters - were unceremoniously killed off, while The Walking Dead's Morgan - who the show had turned from an exciting recurring presence into the most dull character on TV - showed up and took over as lead.
No longer a prequel of any kind, Fear The Walking Dead doesn't have an identity or an interesting character to its name, meaning that now it's just a mind-numbingly boring alternative to the original series devoid of logic or heart. And that once great writing is absolutely nowhere to be seen.
The creative didn't care about the important characters, the new characters don't care in general - so allow this writer to pose you all with an important question: Why the hell should we?
