7. Northern Exposure
My entire family dug this show when it was first started. Rob Morrow was great as the fish out of water city doctor who had to practice medicine in a small town in Alaska due to a technicality with his student loans. His interactions with the quirky oddballs who lived in the town were hilarious, and I remember hoping each week that he would finally hook up with Maggie, his main love interest of the show. For a while the show was nothing short of absolutely awesome and just when it was at its peak Morrows character went nuts and became a hermit who lived out in the woods by himself. The character appeared less and less as things went on and at one point the show focused more on other characters who were brought in to replace him. These characters were nowhere near as interesting as Joel (Morrows character) and as a result the show suffered. Supposedly Morrow had some sort of contract dispute with the producers that caused these changes to take place, and Im thinking they should have just given him what he wanted as it most likely would have saved the show in the long run.
