10 Overlooked Buffy The Vampire Slayer Episodes That Are Secretly Classics
7. Dirty Girls (Season 7, Episode 18)
Whilst season seven as a whole gets a mixed response from fans, the inclusion of Caleb has always been seen as one of its highlights. The sadistic, misogynistic preacher - who is played to callous perfection by Nathan Fillion - is a strong contender for the show's nastiest villain and his introductory episode cements his place as one of Buffy's most fearsome adversaries.
From the harrowing opening scene where he stabs a Potential Slayer before pushing her out of a car, to the climactic battle where he effortlessly murders a few more Potentials before popping Xander's eyeball, Caleb truly shakes up the show's foundations for the better.
His introduction is sharp, shocking, and quietly iconic, but outside of the (un)holy man's mean-spirited shenanigans, there's a lot more to love in this episode - most notably Faith's return to Sunnydale, which leads to several great scenes between herself and Buffy in which they put behind their differences in the pursuit of the same goal.
The only downside is that it feels like it should come earlier in the season, but despite it all feeling a little rushed, this is a potent episode that never fails to get a visceral reaction out of fans.
