Fans of Suits will find plenty to like in this legal series, featuring magnificent turns from James Spader and William Shatner (in arguably the best role of his career).
Spinning off from earlier series The Practise, Boston Legal follows the trials and tribulations of lawyers Alan Shore (James Spader) and Denny Crane (William Shatner). With Candace Bergman's Shirley Schmidt completing the trio of core regulars at firm Crane, Poole, & Schmidt, the writing and performances are consistently top notch throughout the series' five season run.
With British barrister and writer John Mortimer (who shall return later in this list) serving as a consultant, anyone in the mood for witty and fast paced legal drama is in safe hands with Boston Legal. Especially considering the massive popularity of Suits, Boston Legal is often forgotten by comparison, though for fans of US TV that remains reasonably light hearted whilst occasionally tackling some bigger themes, it remains unmissable viewing. At the very least, there's something about watching performers relishing their roles and simply having fun, and Spader and Shatner's chemistry is a prime example of such joy.
