10 Plot Holes You Haven't Noticed In Stranger Things

1. The Other Gates

The Demogorgon's presence was felt on Hawkins due to an encounter with Eleven that was so earth-shattering, it opened a tear in our very dimension. That tear bridged the gap between our world and the Upside Down, and it was simply known as 'The Gate'. And so, when the Upside Down began to manifest topside, Eleven concluded that she had to close the Gate in order to stop it - a task which she completed to perfection. The only problem is that this wasn't the only gate.

Throughout Season 1, the Demogorgon used and created multiple gates in order to break through to the real world. Remember when it tore through Joyce's wall? Yeah, well that was a gate. What about how it emerged from the trees? That was also a gate. And then, of course, you have the middle school wall which it broke through before the final battle of Season 1 - the same gate which Eleven re-emerged from shortly afterwards.

While you could argue that those gates probably closed up on their own, that doesn't explain everything. First off, why do they close on their own when the original one didn't and, more importantly, now that we know there are other Demogorgans in the Upside Down, why didn't one them use their very own gate to break through between Seasons 1 and 2?

With all that in mind, it just seemed a little too convenient that there was so much emphasis placed on this one gate. Sure, it was, in a sense, the Master Gate, but it certainly wasn't the only one.
