Many TV shows live or die on the strength of their female characters, so if its strong, sassy and sexy youre looking for, then Zeds your lady. Angelica Celaya perfectly plays the spiritually enlightened optimist, who is the antithesis to Johns cynical, pessimistic grouch. Although this Zed is fairly different from the Hellblazer version, the show seems to be giving her a similar history to her comic counterpart. Recent episodes have put Zed right the spotlight, with the mid-season cliffhanger leaving viewers unsure what has happened to her, and why. What will become of Zeds relationship with John, will it remain a working and platonic one, or could it evolve into something else? And what of her background, will it turn out she is a more significant player in Hell's plans than John realises? More episodes are needed to explore this mysterious woman's past.
