10 Reasons A Friends Movie Would Be A Terrible Idea

4. The Jokes Could Feel Laboured

The running jokes on the show were hilarious; €œWe were on a break!€ and Chandler€™s commitment issues were sure fire ways of ensuring that we laughed. These would be at least referenced, or used, in the movie. They would simply feel laboured; the time for them has passed, and we would need new material. Monica€™s obsession with cleaning and Phoebe€™s quirkiness could easily feel forced as well. The film would simply risk being full of nostalgic nods towards the show, but the time for Friends has passed; Janice would likely pop up, and Gunther€™s lust for Rachel seemed insatiable on the show, so that would probably make an appearance. The place for these jokes is in the past, not in a future movie. These jokes and traits worked well in the show, but it is hard to see them translating too well on the big screen. Monica and Chandler would have been together for over a decade, so Chandler€™s commitment issues are clearly sorted, and seeing as Ross and Rachel (presumably) would still be together, there would be no need for €œwe were on a break€ to be used.
