Every character in Maniac is different in their own way, and the show doesn't shy away from it. Better yet, the visuals and writing work in tandem with this so that you never feel like the show's holding anything back. It plays out in bold fashion and it's greatly satisfying.

There's a VR sex scene, a Lemur rescue mission, even aliens come into play during one of the simulations. Considering the show ponders on the idea of what counts as reality, its surrealist nature is always present, whether it's under-the-surface or the direct focus of a sequence.

This is a show about people who are each odd in their own way, so it only makes sense for the show to echo that every chance it has.
