10 Reasons People Stopped Watching The Walking Dead
3. Terrible Dialogue
One of the most famous lines from The Walking Dead comics is when Rick Grimes announces "We are The Walking Dead". It's a little ham-fisted, but it's a succinct way of summing up the overall theme of the story and the idea of people losing their humanity in a world that forces them to do horrible things to survive.
The line was also delivered in the TV version and fell flat, just like almost every other attempt at philosophic introspection or thought-provoking dialogue. Rather than making a poignant point, the show hammers its dialogue home with non-stop speeches. Characters are constantly preaching about how much they've changed, how the world has gone to hell, or how they all need to rally together.
One of the most interesting moments in the latest season was when Gabriel and Negan were trapped together and Negan finally revealed some info about his past, but as usual, the show had to go too far, repeating the same ideas to pad out the scene and throwing in silly toilet humour because apparently Negan can't go two minutes without some kind of innuendo or swearing. And that's without even mentioning Eugene and his convoluted confabulation.
