10 Reasons The DC Animated Universe MUST Return

1. ...But Nothing They've Done Since Matches The Groundbreaking DCAU

While the output of Warner Bros. animated DC properties has continued, none of it has matched either the quantity or quality of the DCAU.

Much of this is due to the DCAU creative team, who have become legendary in the animation world. Bruce Timm, Eric Radomski, Dwayne McDuffie, Paul Dini, Alan Burnett, Andrea Romano, Glen Murakami - all were passionate driving forces behind the various shows.

The production teams took risks both creatively and technically. BTAS was drawn on black paper, giving it the dark look it became known for. They assumed many of their fans were comic 'smarts', so they loaded the shows with easter eggs to hunt for while still making the shows approachable for newbies. Once the foundations were laid, they had no problem creating long, complex story arcs that demanded attention, like JLU's Cadmus arc.

Everyone involved in the DCAU appears to have lavished love on their babies, even to the point of going back when shows were on hiatus or in reruns and touching up animation or voicework they weren't happy with.

Their obsession was our gain.
