10 Reasons The Future Of Doctor Who Is Safe With Steven Moffat

2. He Would Cast An Excellent Female Doctor

One aspect of Moffat's showrunning that is practically beyond criticism has been his casting. Matt Smith was a controversial choice at the time, being the youngest actor to ever portray the Doctor, and, while his performance was shaky at the beginning, he really grew into the role and fans were heartbroken to see him go in The Time of the Doctor. Similarly, the casting of Peter Capaldi, best known for his role as the foul mouthed Malcolm Tucker in The Thick of It, has also been a boon for Moffat. Although he's only one series in, Capaldi has captured the role and could make a case for the best Doctor yet by the time he's done. Moffat has yet to make a bad casting choice, which bodes well if he sticks around long enough to choose the next Doctor. The possibilities are endless.
