3. He Guarantees The Casting Of A Female Doctor

The current gender related topic on everyone's mind involving Doctor Who has been the casting of a female Doctor. At this point, it seems inevitable. Moffat has not exactly been the most outspoken advocate for a gender switch, but he hasn't resisted the idea, either. Series 8's big bad, Missy, revealed herself to be a female incarnation of the Doctor's greatest nemesis, the Master, and her return in Series 9 has already been confirmed. Missy was essentially a test run for the Doctor becoming a woman. The fandom's reaction was practically unanimously in support of Missy's character,and the push for a female to take on the role of the Doctor is widespread. Moffat has shown indications of moving towards incorporating women into the show more, both behind the scenes and in the finished product. If Moffat is involved until Series 10, and Series 10 is Capaldi€™s final season, then he will most likely cast a woman as the next Doctor. The public backlash would simply be too great.
