Fear The Walking Dead has a chance to stand out on its own as something new. However, living in the shadow of The Walking Dead will make it harder for the new show to succeed. Think about it, however: if The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead run side by side for a few years, when the main show is ready to call it a day, there will be an established alternative for fans to flock to. And that alternative will have a wealth of fresh characters and stories to explore. In short, just as DS9 rose to new heights after the end of The Next Generation, Fear could benefit greatly from whenever The Walking Dead wraps things up.
