10 Reasons Why Better Call Saul Could Be As Good As Breaking Bad

1. Bob Odenkirk's Performance Is Superb

Any television series which focuses so closely on the development of a single character is going to live or die by the performance given by its lead actor. This is as true of Better Call Saul as it was of Breaking Bad, where Bryan Cranston's central turn was pivotal to the show's success. Bob Odenkirk had obviously already proven himself more than capable of making Saul Goodman a compelling creation in Breaking Bad, but his character in that show was perhaps lacking in the necessary depth to carry a show of his own. With Better Call Saul, however, his character's range has been expanded significantly, adding to the smooth talking shtick of Breaking Bad a degree of fallibility, nuance and emotional depth. Far from simply playing on the character tropes Breaking Bad audiences are familiar with, Better Call Saul sees the character as a fully developed human being, and it is already apparent that Bob Odenkirk's performance will be more than capable of putting this across with style and charisma. Do you agree that Better Call Saul could be every bit as good as Breaking Bad? Let us know in the comments below.
