10 Reasons Why Bob's Burgers Is Better Than Family Guy
8. It's Humble
When watching Family Guy, you really get a sense of self-righteousness about it. The show’s writers have frequently made cheap digs at celebrities, movies and other television shows (Bob’s Burgers included), ironically whilst their own series rapidly declines in quality.
Brian Griffin used to be a model of dry wit and sophistication, but now his character is just a platform for the show’s writers to voice their opinions, mostly concerning religion and legalising cannabis. It’s so heavy-handed and preachy, to the point where it insults the audience's intelligence.
Bob’s Burgers is a modest cartoon which leaves the politics out and never has the feeling of a superiority complex about it. If there is a pop culture reference, it’s usually in celebration of that said show/movie, rather than a belittling of it. And any message they try to convey is always simple, subtle and sweet.
