10 Reasons Why Bob's Burgers Is Better Than Family Guy

7. Greater Sense Of Continuity

It’s fair to say in the medium of cartoons, there is never any real sense of continuity, which is why such shows can play around with their animated license. After all, we wouldn’t have the slapstick of Tom & Jerry or the outlandish adventures of Phineas and Ferb if they were so strict on the rules.

However, it’s a horse of a different colour for animated sitcoms, which at least have to follow a loose narrative to make the series flow better. And Family Guy is FRUSTRATINGLY inconsistent. The story of Stewie’s birth changes every time, prime characters are casually killed off and then immediately rejuvenated back to life a scene later, random events of the past are pulled out of thin air just to create a new storyline and any major occurrence is swiftly forgotten about by the time the next episode arrives.

Bob’s Burgers may have the occasional error when it comes to consistency but otherwise, the producers have a surprising eye for detail. Everything that occurs within the lives of the Belchers remains a permanent fixture, whether it’s Bob’s half-done equestrian tattoo or the modern bathroom built into the restaurant.
