10 Reasons Why Doctor Aphra Deserves A Disney+ Series

8. The Underworld

A New Hope was the start of the Star Wars Universe, and it introduced fans to the criminal elements of it the moment the Jawas captured R2-D2 and C3P0. The grittiness of this world was only cemented a few scenes later when Obi-Wan Kenobi took Luke Skywalker to Mos Eisley Spaceport, a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Over the years, a variety of criminal organizations became bigger and bigger parts of the overall narrative. Both Han Solo and Lando Calrissian have deep connections to the underworld that secretly ran the galaxy. In some cases, it wasn't much of a secret, especially in the Outer Rim.

Few Star Wars characters are as entrenched in the underworld of this Universe as Doctor Aphra. Her comics frequently involve her interactions with these pre-existing groups and individuals, as well as introducing new ones. It only makes sense for the a Disney+ series with her to do the same, expanding on the nastier elements of Star Wars.
