6. Family Guy Has A Better Supporting Cast

We can€™t be too dismissive of Moe, Apu, Flanders and company, but the Griffin€™s acquaintances are on the whole funnier. Quagmire is frighteningly predatory in his sexual advances, and Joe makes consistent jokes about the inability of his legs to work. Bart€™s prank calls to Moe€™s Tavern and Moe€™s responses are no longer funny. They are the same type of humour, whereas we never know what type of approach or in what situation we will find Quagmire, likewise we never know what Joe will say about his life changing disability. The success of Cleveland led to him receiving his own (mediocre) show. It is nowhere near as good as Family Guy, but it shows that the supporting cast has the capacity to hold its own; a spin off featuring the exploits of Ned Flanders or Barney would be nowhere near as commercially viable. Family Guy€™s supporting crew is simply more obscene, less predictable and overall funnier than those of The Simpsons.
