10 Reasons Why Glee Is Failing

8. Forgotten Characters

glee-warblers I completely understand if Glee have some kind of budgeting issues that require a few characters to sit out a few episodes, but at least tell us why they€™re not around. Minor players Joe and Sugar sat out about six episodes, with no explanation given. At least when Tina sits out an episode, we€™re told she has €œAsian bird flu€ or that Blaine is having eye surgery. People were speculating that they€™d either eloped together or had been unmercifully killed off. But no, they return when the Glee club needs to fill it€™s twelve member quota for competitions, with some off the cusp joke by Will asking €œhas anyone seen Joe or Sugar?€ Although it€™s not just characters taking an evident on screen absence, it€™s characters being given nothing to do. Mike Chang had one line in the entirety of season one. For most of season two, Tina sat back, either fluttering her eyelashes or crying inconsolably with love. We€™re not given a reason to care for the props, and a lot of jokes are made at their expense as a result of this.
