10 Reasons Why We Need a Batman TV Show

3. Police Procedurals€ With Batman

As mentioned earlier, Gotham lends itself to detective storylines; murder mysteries and shadowy secrets with a larger-than-life comic-book twist. This one really doesn€™t need explaining, as the idea of CSI: Gotham is just inherently cool. Horatio Caine clearly wants to be Batman anyway, so a spin-off where crime-lab technicians pore over traces of Joker toxin or scraps of a certain famous cape is the next logical step for America€™s favourite franchise. I haven€™t actually read Gotham Central (gasp!) but I hear it€™s rather good, and it would be nice to see the fine men and women of the GCPD get a decent representation on screen, namely as something other than useless, corrupt, or just background decoration during a Batman-Gordon exposition scene. All the usual thrill and spills of detective work and crime prevention, but with the added dimension of mysterious vigilantes, mad science and super-powered rogues to spice up this week€™s plot. Hell, forget CSI, make it a Gotham-set version of The Wire and sit back, safe in the knowledge that you have brought popular culture to its apotheosis.
