7. The Relatability
The situations that Miranda finds herself in are, as far I'm concerned, some of the most relatable situations a girl can find herself in. She has feelings for her best friend but doesn't know how to tell him, her mother wants her to hurry up and get married, her old friends won't let her live down nicknames she earned in school- we all know how that feels! Well, some of us. But the situations in each episode are relatable as well. There are a few flashbacks of guys approaching Miranda in clubs and her reactions are always awkward and boarder-line hard to watch- she falls off her stool, faints at the site of the beautiful Gary, and accidentally admits to a potential beau that she once weighed her breasts to see how much they would cost to post. (Come on ladies, we've all thought it.) Her lack of tact and genuine inability to act natural around men represent the real everywoman. Plus the jokes she makes about her height! She's over six feet tall and is admittedly not athletic, and makes comments that we've all held in in the past, for instance in the park during one episode, Tilly runs by with a group of joggers and Miranda calls out after her, "eat a burger!" The humor in the show comes from these moments that Miranda creates and reacts as most of the audience would if we were in that situation.
