10 Reasons You Should Be Watching The Harley Quinn TV Show
8. It's Got A Fun Premise Filled With Potential
One of the key themes of Birds of Prey was Harley Quinn's emancipation from her relationship with the Joker and realising that she could be just as (if not more) intimidating and villainous as him. This idea is carried into the Harley Quinn series, but stretched and moulded to suit an incredibly funny premise.
In the show, Harley separates from Joker (with the support of Poison Ivy) and sets out to make a name for herself as more than just a sidekick. Each episode casts a light on the trials and tropes that would come with becoming a fully-fledged super-villain.
What's fun about this aspect of the show is that not only are you rooting for Harley to succeed above all the other members of the Legion of Doom, but the show puts a hilarious spin on the endeavour; turning Harley's quest into a Public Relations and Human Resources challenge.
Through Harley and her gang's mission to establish themselves as reputable villains, the show often also explores the issue about how women have been represented in both the fictional and the real world (more on that later).
Each episode ponders the questions we ask about super-villain infamy that aren't often answered in comics.
