10 Reasons You Should Be Watching The Harley Quinn TV Show

7. There Is Great Representation Of Female Characters

Finding one strongly written female character can be hard to find, even in live-action shows. So, when an animated series to manage this with characters who have previously been anything but, we can only be impressed.

Before Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn was depicted as the naive victim of Joker's brutality, and while comic book fans and some viewers of the cartoon might have understood the dynamic a little more, the character of Harley wasn't given much justice.

In the Harley Quinn series, both the titular character and Poison Ivy are made into fully realised individuals. This makes perfect sense, as Harley and Ivy have always had an interesting friendship (and romantic relationship at one point) that struck fans as one of the more genuine parts of the character development.

It is enlightening to see the writers of Harley Quinn had leaned into the dynamics of the two characters; with the two of them acting not unlike roommates in a wacky 90's sitcom. Harley is the bouncing wildcard, while Ivy is portrayed as the more reserved and mature "cool" person.

Harley Quinn is a step in the right direction for female characters being made more human and relatable than what we often get on our screens.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
