The animation in Castlevania has always been one of its strengths, and cannot be praised enough, but separate from the quality of animation is the sheer beauty of the art direction in this series, especially in Season 4.

The backgrounds have always been top notch, gorgeously painted and really bringing the audience into the world, both vibrant and colourful as well as dark and moody and atmospheric. The impressive structures, the castles and cities and Dracula's floating keep, are imposing, and really stick in the mind.

The character designs are attractive and memorable, and this season in particular goes hard on the costume design, with some standouts including Striga's terrifying armour, Isaac's vibrant blue ensemble, and Carmilla's iconic blood-red dress.

Certain scenes allow these to really shine, not only lending stunning visuals to certain scenes and fights, but also thematic relevance to Castlevania's visual storytelling. Certain shots can be taken from the final season and turned into posters or splashed across someone's desktop, really paying tribute to just how iconic this series turned out to be.
