10 Reasons You Should Watch Netflix's Kingdom

4. The Action

This show can get the adrenaline pumping when the action starts to ramp up, despite being still and quiet in many other scenes. The heart-stopping action set-pieces usually involve heroes and civilians running from zombies, but once the characters learn to start fighting back, the audience gets to see a surprising amount of fantastic martial arts and sword-fighting, as well as a bit of gunplay.

Having its cake and eating it too, Kingdom mixes quiet, sorrowful moments; tightly wound, tense political intrigue where not a single punch is thrown but everyone's clenched hard, waiting for their fragile peace to break; and harrowing, heart-stopping action. The protagonists are eventually able to hold their own, but unlike in certain first person shooter games where horror is thrown out the window when you can shoot a zombie dead, the infected hordes still pose an enormous and overwhelming threat to their victims.

The well-trained crowned prince gets to use his skill with a blade, while the mysterious survivor Young-Shin has excellent aim with an ancient rifle, shooting undead in the skull even while on the back of a cart on rough terrain - but even then, the action does nothing to sacrifice the horror.
