The fifth episode of the latest season of Disney+'s smash hit Mandalorian series saw the shocking return of Star Wars Rebels hero Zeb Orrelios, with the Lasat legend showing up in live-action here for the very first time.

But it was that astonishing cameo which largely overshadowed a pretty bizarre occurrence that also went down in that exact same "The Pirate" scene.

As fans are introduced to the New Republic's Adelphi Base and the watering hole it boasted, the wide shot of that bar contained what looked like a Republic pilot having a somewhat strange conversation... with themselves.

The minute Zeb surprisingly arrives to chat with Captain Carson Teva, though, it soon becomes clear, based on where he appears from, that said loner pilot was actually likely chatting to the Lasat one-time rebel at one point.

Perhaps the thinking here was that having Zeb show up as a full-on surprise out of the blue was more effective than having his back debut before his Teva conversation.

So, maybe the former Spectre was simply cut out of the moment, with Peter Ramsay, John Favreau and the rest of the gang just hoping you'd be too distracted by the busy drinking spot to notice one random New Republic lad seemingly nattering away to himself.

And they were right... well, for a bit!
