10 Revived Doctor Who Episodes That Are Perfect For A Rainy Day
2. Vincent and the Doctor
There's nothing better than snuggling up on the sofa on a cold, rainy day and having your heart warmed by a story of hope and passion - and then having it subsequently ripped out and repeatedly stamped on by its devastating conclusion. Vincent and the Doctor delivers (and then some) in both departments but you still end up feeling inspired so it pretty much ticks all the boxes. The story of Vincent van Gogh's tragic life is one that only a certain calibre of writer could take on and do justice so it's a testament to the talent of the award-winning Richard Curtis that this episode has gone down as one of the most beloved and memorable from the last decade of NuWho. Once again the show was pushing its own boundaries as it tackled the sensitive issue of mental demons and it was an intriguing insight into the ongoing, and ultimately fateful, inner trials and tribulations that haunted one of history's most influential artists. A special mention for Tony Curran, too, who brought it to life in a way that has never been done before. It's ultimately a story of hope, though, with an encouraging final message regarding the overall importance of dealing with life and all the good and bad things that you face with it along the way. If your copious amounts of tea don't warm the cockles of your heart on your rainy day of Doctor Who marathoning, this episode certainly will.
