1. Blink
You'd probably already guessed that this would take the top spot on the list! It's another Doctor-lite affair but don't let that put you off. The episode might have been lacking in the Time Lord department but it more than made up for it with the rest of Steven Moffat's spine-tingling script which introduced us to what have since become one of the show's most iconic adversaries. This episode still stands as one of the most popular of the revived series so far as it marked the first appearance of the terrifying Weeping Angels and as such it was generally responsible for embedding a new found fear of statues within the national psyche. Doctor Who isn't doing its job if it isn't highlighting the extremities of everyday life and viewers were on the edge of their seats as they were taken down a dark path of "timey-wimey stuff" through the compassionate eyes of Carey Mulligan as fan favourite Sally Sparrow. Things went from bad to worse for this one off leading lady but the ambitious story means it's still the perfect viewing material for a rainy day - not only because rain plays an important part in the episode itself. Want to be scared? Check. Want to have your mind blown? Check. Want to feel sad and happy all at the same time? Check. Check. Check. This episode is the perfect standalone story which leaves you with an appetite for more adventure so it's basically a perfect Doctor Who story when you look at it like that. Just don't blink and you'll be fine. What do you think of this list? Are there any other Doctor Who episodes that are perfect to watch on a rainy day? Let us know in the comments below.
