Captain Boomerang is one of The Flash's more iconic villains, and a staple member of The Rogues. That means there's little to no chance we don't see him on the upcoming series, which is great news. Two characters have taken on the Captain Boomerang moniker: George "Digger" Harkness and his son, Owen Mercer. Digger's back-story involves being raised in poverty and working as a performer and boomerang promoter for a toy company. When audiences ridiculed him, he turned to using his boomerang talents for crime. Just like Green Arrow has his trick arrows, Captain Boomerang has a wide variety of gimmicky boomerangs at his disposal. His son, Owen Mercer, takes over as Captain Boomerang when Digger realizes that he's obsolete in the modern world of supervillains. Digger passes on his knowledge and skills to his son before he died. An orphaned Owen was taken in by Captain Cold and Cold's sister Golden Glider (more on her in a minute), who is believed to be his biological mother. Mercer became a member of the Rogues, after embracing and appreciating the sense of family that the team offered. His close ties to the villain team and its other key members, as well as his ties to the Suicide Squad, make him a surefire bet for the show.
