10 'Rose' Moments That Proved Doctor Who Was Here To Stay

4. "One Constant Companion..."

Speaking of companions, there's also one other rather persistent one that the Doctor is constantly encountering on his travels (and no, it isn't River Song - she doesn't come along until Series 4!). It's death, by the way (thanks, Clive!) which is pretty morbid, if you actually stop to think about. That's the truth of the matter, though. Doctor Who is morbid, but it's also brilliant and epic and honest... It's life, and that overriding theme was executed perfectly in Rose, and in every episode since. When your job gets blown up by a mysterious man who saves your life from death by shop window dummy? That's life. When said mysterious man invites you inside a blue box that's bigger on the inside for adventures in time and space? That's life. When you look into the heart of the TARDIS, absorb the energies of the time vortex and subsequently gain control over the entire universe? That's... well, that's just bloody bonkers, really, but that's just Doctor Who in a nutshell. Bloody bonkers, through and through.
