10 Saddest Doctor Who Moments

8. Donna Losing Everything

The Tenth Doctor definitely didn't have the best of luck when it came to companions. Then again, his tenure as a whole was littered with relentless tragedy. Donna thought that her worth didn't mean a whole lot, believing herself to be nothing special due to just being a temp from Chiswick. What's so special about that?

It's a shame she felt this way, given that she had done so much alongside the Doctor, and naturally grew as a person. When it came to the Series Four finale, Journey's End, she single-handily stopped the Daleks from destroying reality after becoming a hybrid. Despite this moment of greatness, Donna was rewarded with the harshest of fates.

Due to the Meta-Crisis process going wrong, Donna needed to have her memory wiped in order to save her life. It's made worse by the fact that she didn't want to go back to the way she was in The Runaway Bride. She would've rather faced her darkening fate of death if it meant retaining all of her experiences. The Doctor, on the other hand, simply couldn't let his friend die and went against her wishes. Poor Donna.
