10 Saddest Doctor Who Moments
9. Rose Being Stranded On A Parallel World
Regardless of whether or not you enjoyed the romantic subplot between the Tenth Doctor and Rose, it's hard to deny the impact left behind from her departure in Doomsday. Sure, it's somewhat let down by her later return in Series 4, but looking at the original sequence in isolation, it still presents a gripping moment of pure emotion.
Of course, the tragedy comes from the simplistic fact that Rose has been cruelly snatched away from the Doctor, with the reality set in stone that they can never be together ever again. Both David Tennant and Billie Piper sell the script with a real performance, which captivates the journey the Doctor and Rose had been on since Doctor Who returned to our screens in 2005.
What makes this scene hurt more is the fact that the Doctor is unable to tell Rose what he really thinks, being cut off before he can finally convey his true feelings, leaving Rose utterly devastated. Murray Gold's music also captures the emotional impact of this moment and escalates the drama even further, added by the torturous shot of the Tenth Doctor crying alone in the TARDIS.
