10 Scariest Episodes Of The Walking Dead (So Far)

9. JSS (Season 6, Episode 2)

The Walking Dead Whisperers
AMC

The first half of season six was an epic and time-bending entry to The Walking Dead's story. Offering up series high points including Here's Not Here and Always Accountable, the season's most terrifying episode comes right at the beginning with JSS.

From its opening scene, which sees Enid after her parents are killed by walkers, you know you're not in for a light hour of TV. Watching Enid eating a turtle is awful enough, but the episode takes things into high gear when in the present day The Wolves attack Alexandria, brutally killing the locals without remorse or refrain.

The episode is best known for Carol's undercover crusade to kill the community's attackers, but outside of this iconic Carol moment JSS is a disturbing exploration of violence and survival. The moment when Carol sees her neighbour being cut down outside her window will never fail to make newcomers flinch, and will never sit right with veteran fans.

Like many aspects of the show, JSS is the kind of episode which allows audiences to explore the true evil man is capable of, and the results are guaranteed to make you shudder.
