10 Scariest Stargate Episodes Ever
2. Stargate Atlantis Season 4 Episode 4: Doppelganger
In the Stargate Atlantis episode "Doppelganger" the crew of the Atlantis has to face their greatest challenge yet - some really freaky nightmares.
The episode starts with Colonel Sheppard deciding it was okay to touch a shiny glowing ball of crystals in a tree. To no one's surprise, the crystal shocks Sheppard, infecting him with a crystalline lifeform that jumped from Sheppard to his teammate Teyla.
Teyla then has a horrific nightmare where her doubts about her place in the team come alive, as well as a Wraith form of Sheppard feeding on her like she was on Hannibal Lecter's table.
Teyla infects the Atlantis' psychiatrist with the crystalline being, with her nightmare being a complete ripoff of the chestburster scene from the first Alien film, with Teyla taking the place of John Hurt's character in that scene.
The entity keeps jumping around from crewmember to crewmember, forcing them to live out their nightmares, including Dr. McKay's fear of clowns, eventually affecting people as they are still awake.
The creature in this episode may just be a harmless ball of glass, but the effect it has on the crew of the Atlantis' dreams causes some very messed up and shocking events - especially the clowns! - to happen in rapid succession before the crew is finally able to reverse the creatures effects.
