10 Scariest Supernatural Episodes Ever Made

9. Party On, Garth (Season 7, Episode 18)

This is an example of an episode after the original ending point at Season 5 that manages to deliver some genuinely solid scares.

The Winchesters are called upon by Garth to assist in a hunt that has him stumped. Turns out there is, as Dean puts it, a 'Japanese booze monster' on the loose gutting people like fish.

While in this episode the spirit is a shōjō, it is more visually reminiscent of an onryō featured in such horror classics as Ringu and Ju-On. This dark haired spectre draped in white is always an unnerving sight to behold. Something about the pure malevolence radiating off of it combined with the iconic look never fails to terrify.

The part about only being able to fight it when wasted adds an extra layer of fear as well. How can anyone fight a vicious, unrelenting enemy when they can barely even walk in a straight line? If it weren't for Bobby's spirit giving them a helping hand, the brothers might have been dealing with more than they could handle.

Equal parts scary and fun, 'Party On, Garth' makes for a truly underrated episode of Supernatural.
