10 Scariest Supernatural Episodes Ever Made
3. Croatoan (Season 2, Episode 9)
Ever wonder what happened to the lost colony of Roanoke? Well Supernatural has an answer for you.
After Sam has a psychic vision of Dean dusting an innocent man, the two head to a small town in search of answers. Things get messy once they find out they've step foot into ground zero for a demonic blood plague.
Not only is this one of the scariest episodes of the series, but it's also one of the best. 'Croatoan' feels like a mix between The Thing and Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Most of the episode takes place inside a clinic where the few survivors have held up together. Any one of them could be infected, making the tension here so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Demon blood monsters aside, this is also one of the first times viewers get to see Dean go dark. His willingness to almost murder a possibly innocent man is something that feels so out of character for him that it's scary in itself.
Nail-biting tension and excellent character work makes this an episode for the ages.
