10 Sci-Fi TV Series That Deserve A Second Chance
1. Almost Human
Once again, Fox's weird decisions in airing SciFI TV series takes out another potentially great one. Like Firefly before it, Almost Human had incredible potential but only lasted for one season after the few episodes that were produced were bounced around the schedule and shown out of order.
It's hard to build a following when fans can't find a show, and it doesn't makes sense if they do.
Starring Karl Urban and produced by J.J. Abrams, this cyberpunk crime drama focused on John Kennex, a cop who woke up from a 17 month coma. He was then assigned an android partner, which he was unhappy about as the last one he dealt with was the reason he ended up in a coma. Kennex gets an older, more human-like model named Dorian, played by Michael Ealy, who he forms a bond with.
The relationship between Kennex and Dorian was highly engaging, especially when set against a futuristic backdrop. While there was a new case for them each week, an ongoing story was also unfolding. This is why showing the series out of order was so devastating. A complete reboot on a streaming service would work well as long as Urban and Ealy play the same characters.
